Welcome to a Spreadsheet Tutorial!

Below you'll find exercises introducing the basic functionality of spreadsheets, humanity's most powerful tool.

Start at the beginning and work your way through. When you have some skills, give yourself some projects!

Project Ideas

  1. Create a grade calculator with three columns: homework (10%), quizzes(75%), labs(15%). The total grade should be calculated from the weighted averages of those three columns. For a challenge, calculate the letter grade as well.
  2. Collect some data from an athlete or sports team and find descriptive statistics about the data.
  3. Perform an experiment, then record and analyze your data in a spreadsheet. For example, how high does a bouncy ball bounce? You can drop from various drop heigts and record how high the ball bounces. Record and plot your data, then find the best fit curve through your data and make a prediction for a new bounce height and verify your prediction.
  4. Design a survey and gather data. Analyze the survey results.
